From the Hive to the Jar: Our First Harvest

Last weekend, Dad helped me harvest my first batch of honey. After months of watching the bees build comb and store nectar, it was exciting to finally collect the honey they had worked so hard to produce.

We made sure to leave each hive with a full deep of honey to help them get through the winter. From the two medium honey supers, we harvested about 16 frames, which produced roughly two gallons of honey.

Seeing the frames full of capped honey and watching it flow during extraction was incredibly rewarding. It really puts into perspective how much work the bees do to produce every drop.

Yesterday I finally finished labeling the jars, which made the whole experience feel complete. From hive to jar, this first harvest has been a memorable milestone in my beekeeping journey.
